ALEXANDRIA - A move to store Egypt's wheat in state-of-the-art warehouses monitored by a control center in Cairo could end losses from theft and waste, cutting its $3 billion bread subsidy bill, an executive at the U.S. firm designing the project said.
TEL AVIV - Fragments of ancient beer-brewing basins unearthed in Tel Aviv indicate that Egyptians more than 5,000 years ago had settled farther north than previously known and were imbibing in what is now Israel's most hard-partying city.
The wheat markets had losses of 15 to 20 cents last week, following along with the steep losses seen in the row crop markets. Noncommercial money was flowing out of the grain markets ahead of the holiday breaks and year-end.
CAIRO — The prosecution's first witness in the trial of ousted Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak startled the court in a stormy session Monday, testifying that police were not ordered to fire on protesters in Cairo's Tahrir Square in a contradiction of the prosecutors’ central claim.
